Settlement
in the Hines Creek area began in the mid-1800's at a time when the fur
trade was still active in Western Canada. The Village, taking its name
from the nearby water channel of Hines Creek, grew from its early beginnings
as an area suited towards the pursuits of trappers, ranchers as the
early settlers of Hines Creek.
Hines Creek is the setting for the Canadian Forest Product's and Zavisha sawmills and has oil and gas production in close proximity. The many recreational, arts and cultural amenities are part of the Village's commitment to an excellent community quality of life. |
Population: 440 (Census 2001)
The Village is situated at the junction of Highway 64 and Secondary Highway 685. West of Grimshaw and is Mile Zero of the Mackenzie Highway 35.
