"Bird Capital of Canada"
Located on the edge of the Alberta Green
Belt, McLennan offers a variety of trees, plants and wildlife just a
short distance from town, allowing visitors to participate in a variety
of recreational
activities. Known as the "Bird Capital of Canada", McLennan is located on the South shore of Kimiwan Lake, which supports 27,000 shore birds and 250,000 waterfowl annually. McLennan residents have also spearheaded initiatives such as the Tidy Town Concept and the Charter of Rights and Responsibilities, which are being used as models for communities throughout Canada .
