"Hub of the Peace"
The
Village of Rycroft was incorporated on March 15, 1944, and it has experienced
a slow but steady growth since that time. The Village quickly became
a railroad centre complete with a roundhouse and a water tower.

Population: 605 (Census 2001)
Rycroft incorporated in 1944.
History tells us that the village got its name in a random draw where four residents, one of whom was Robert Henry Rycroft, put their suggestions into a hat. The Village of Rycroft is located at the crossroads of Highways 2 and 49, 68 km north of Grande Prairie, and 528 km northwest of Edmonton.
