Mark Turner and Daniel Helm spend much of their spare time each summer looking for dinosaur prints. The two boys discovered an important dinosaur trackway in Flatbed Creek just below Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia. Did You Know Kinuseo Falls, located in the Monkman Provincial Park, at 60 metres is higher than Niagara Falls. Other attractions include a nine-hole golf course, recreation and aquatic centre, Sukunka Falls Provincial Park with good hiking and fishing, Gwillam Lake Provincial Park and Monkman Provincial Park (both have camp sites). |

Tumbler Ridge is truly an outdoor enthusiast's paradise. With modern facilities of every kind, Tumbler Ridge is a great town for gathering supplies, directions and advice before heading off into adventure. Hiking, fishing, canoeing, alpine meadows and numerous waterfalls in remote locations will fill your day in the great Canadian outdoors.
This town incorporated in 1981 to provide a home and community to the employees and families who work at the two big mines. The building and development of Tumbler Ridge and transportation facilities was B.C.'s largest industrial endeavor.
After the recent closure of both its coal mines, Tumbler Ridge is set to emerge even stronger. The people of Tumbler Ridge have warmly welcomed new neighbours to their friendly community - from all over Canada, the U.S. and even Europe.
There have been significant gas finds around Tumbler Ridge and gas and oil investments in the area are increasing. Such possibilities for diversification would significantly complement the potential of this community for the future . Tumbler Ridge is on a plateau, near the Wolverine, Murray and Flatbed Rivers. It is surrounded by mountains, forests and rolling hills. Tumbler Ridge is located on Highway 27 South (off Highway 97) 105 km (65 mi.) south of Chetwynd. By road it’s 120 km (74 mi.) to Dawson Creek. Tumbler Ridge has a total area of 185,873.5 ha
